How to Release a Wand on Dyson Animal
The Dyson Animal Absolute upright vacuum cleaners have several attachments that are placed on the wand extension. When the wand is released from the base of the vacuum cleaner, the suction power is transferred from the main nozzle to the wand. Unplug the power cord from the power outlet. The suction on the wand may be damaged if it the power is activated when releasing the wand.

Grip the top of the handle. Stand facing the front of the vacuum cleaner and grip the top of the handle. The wand is located inside the handle's front tube.

Squeeze the handle release lever and pull up to detach the handle from the base of the cleaner.

Grip the wand head located in the tube in front of the handle. Pull up to extend the wand.

Tips & Warnings
If you are using the wand to clean steps, leave the vacuum at the bottom of the staircase. When positioned at the top of the staircase, you risk pulling the vacuum down the steps and injuring yourself or damaging the machine.
