How to Learn Shaolin Kung Fu for Free

Shaolin Kung Fu is a collection of martial arts techniques developed in the Shaolin Monastery of China. Shaolin Kung Fu is considered to be an external martial art because of its use of attack and defense techniques. For thousands of years this art was kept secret, and now it has gained popularity in the West. Although you can learn Kung Fu by going to schools and paying for training courses, it is also possible to learn Shaolin Kung Fu for free.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Watch Shaolin Kung Fu training videos online. Go to either YouTube or Google Video and type "Shaolin Kung Fu Techniques." The search results will include numerous videos that deal with Shaolin Kung Fu technique and training.

  2. Step 2

    You can also find Shaolin Kung Fu training centers in the phone book. Call a center and ask if it offers any free introductory courses. Although not all martial arts studios do this, it is quite common and is used to attract new students.

  3. Step 3

    Go to the library and check out books on Shaolin Kung Fu. One book in particular is titled "The Shaolin Workout." It offers a 28-day training program to develop the mind, body and soul.

  4. Step 4

    Go to kungfumagazine.com and participate in forums. Click the link that says "Register" in the upper-left corner of the screen and enter your user information to create a free account. Click the forum link that says "Shaolin Kung Fu" to post and read discussions on the subject.

  • Read historical background information and the Shaolin classic texts to gain a better understanding of the art.
  • Do not attempt to do advanced strength-training techniques at home.
