How to Hook up a Converter Box

In June of 2009, all analog TV broadcasting in the United States ended. In the past, the only accessory you needed for your television to work was an antenna. However, with the digital transition, to watch television you need to either be a cable or satellite subscriber or have a digital converter box. The converter box can be hooked up to your television by using A/V jacks. You can also hook up a converter boxes to other devices, such as a DVD player.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Insert the A/V jacks into the back of your television. Plug the white audio cable into the, "AUDIO IN L" connection. Insert the red audio cable into the "AUDIO IN R" connection. Plug the yellow video cable into the "VIDEO IN" connection on the back of your television.

  2. Step 2

    Insert the A/V jacks into the back of your converter box. Plug in the red audio cable into "AUDIO OUT R." Plug in the yellow audio cable into the "AUDIO OUT L." Insert the yellow video cable into the "VIDEO OUT."

  3. Step 3

    Plug your antenna into the converter box by inserting the plug into the "ANT IN." Your converter box is now hooked up to your television.
