How to Kill Fleas & Ticks Fast
Fleas and ticks are a menace to nearly everyone who has pets that go outside. Ticks can latch onto your animal from the grass, and fleas can come from long distances. They are able to jump extremely high and can even enter your house through closed windows. Inspect your pets frequently, and treat at the first sign of an infestation. It becomes harder to quickly kill the insects after their numbers grow. The following options work within a matter of hours and will kill most of the insects in your home.
Things You'll Need

1
Treat your cats and dogs with topical treatment that kills both fleas and ticks, or give them a tablet that works much the same way. The best products are only available through your veterinarian and kill the insects within a few hours.
-
2
Place a medicated flea collar around the animal's neck. The fleas will die when they come into contact with the collar. Be sure to get a breakaway collar to prevent strangulation.

3
Fumigate the house. Close all the doors and windows. Remove all of the people from the house, and set the fogger to spray chemicals that kill the insects. Wait for the allotted time before re-entering the house.
-
4
Spray flea and tick killer on the insects. Treat your pets to a dip to kill any insects that are living on them.
-
5
Bathe the animals with a flea treating shampoo. This will not remove fleas in the carpet, but it will give your pet some instant relief.

Tips & Warnings
Try only one step at a time. Mixing chemicals can be dangerous to you and could kill your pet. Check with your vet to see how long you should wait between different treatments. Do not apply medications to young kittens or puppies.
