Instructions

    • 1

Check that there's gasoline in the tank if the motor fails to start. Make sure the gasoline is primed. Press the prime bulb several times to fill the bulb. If the engine is cold, set the choke and try again. If the trimmer is already hot, opening the choke may cause the engine not to start.

    • 2

Leave the trimmer for a few minutes---take a break. Repeated pulling of the starter cord and priming with no results can flood the engine. Allow the gasoline to dissipate.

    • 3

Check that you're not cutting tall grass at ground level if the grass keeps getting wrapped around the driveshaft housing and string head. Cutting tall grass from the top down will stop wrapping.

    • 4

Check that the string isn't too short or has worn down to nothing if the trimmer doesn't cut the grass. You may have used all the string and need to refill the spool. The string should automatically advance when you bump the spool head.

    • 5

Check that the strings haven't welded to each other due to heat.

    • 6

Make sure the strings haven't gotten tangled on the spool. This can be caused by overfilling the spool. Don't fill the spool more than a quarter-inch below the spool top.

    • 7

Remove all the string and wind it again. Lubricate the whole spool assembly and string with silicon spray. Give the string ends a tug when you replace the spool on the trimmer.
