How to Install Norton for Free

Having an adequate anti-virus program installed on your PC helps keep your PC from breaking down due to viruses and other security risks. There are many anti-virus programs available, though Norton is among the most popular. While Norton is a paid-program, it is possible to install Norton for free and test it for 30 days to ensure that it is the right anti-virus program for your PC.

  • Norton Free Trial
  1. Step 1

    Download the program by going to the link in the "Resources" section of this article. Click the "Download" button and save the file to your Desktop.

  2. Step 2

    Double-click the file on your Desktop. Click "Yes" when asked if you want to install the program.

  3. Step 3

    Click "Next" twice to proceed through the installation of the program. Norton will then begin installing on your PC.

  4. Step 4

    Click "Run Scan After Installing" and then click "Next."

  5. Step 5

    Click "Finish" to complete the installatio. Norton will begin to scan your computer for viruses. This process may take up to an hour to complete.

  6. Step 6

    Click "Remove" to remove any viruses that are found. If none are found, minimize the program by clicking the "-" button at the top right of the program. You've successfully installed Norton for free on your PC.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep your copy of Norton up to date. Right-click the "Norton" icon at the bottom right of your screen and select "Update Virus Definitions." Do this once or twice a week.
