Rowenta irons are quality appliances that can last for years with proper use and care. Proper filling of steam irons is an important part of the care and regular maintenance that every owner needs to know about. By filling the iron properly with the correct type of water, the user will enjoy years of use. Adding water is easy and can be accomplished in a few simple steps.
Things You'll Need
- Rowenta iron
- Tap water
- Distilled water
How to Fill a Rowenta Steam Iron
Verify that the iron is powered off and that the power cord is unplugged from the wall. Make sure that the face plate is cool.
Move the steam-control lever completely to the left. The lever should correspond to the symbol that looks like a burst of steam with a line through it.
Place the iron so that it rests on its heel, or bottom surface. Tilt the iron forward approximately one inch. Slide the inlet cover out of the way if your iron is equipped with one.
Pour tap water into the water inlet until it reaches the "Max Fill" mark on the internal tank. The water level is visible through the plastic tank window. Use a pitcher or a cup with a spout to avoid spills.
Slide the inlet cover back to the closed position if your iron is equipped with one.
Tips & Warnings
- Rowenta irons are designed to use tap water. If your water is too hard (more than 12 grains of hardness) consider mixing tap water with distilled water. Rowenta recommends that you avoid using pure distilled water.
- If you need to refill while ironing, unplug the iron and allow it to cool before refilling. Never add water to a hot iron.
