Gas grills are one of the most convenient ways to cook outdoors. With knobs to turn grills on or off and a quick source of heat, gas grills are both faster and more environmentally friendly than their charcoal components. Weber, a well-known producer of grills, has several models of gas grills available; you can use a Weber gas grill to cook up some great food.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Propane
  • Weber grill
  • Food
  • Grill utensils
  1. Step 1

Prepare the grill. Open the grill cover and prepare the grate; if the Weber grill is brand new, make sure all the pieces are in their proper place per the manufacturer's directions. If the grill has been used, clean the grate of excess food or burnt juices by scrubbing with a grill brush. Once the grill is cleaned, position it away from the side of a building or other flammable structures in the case of a flare-up. Spray the surface with cooking spray or rub with a cloth dipped in olive oil to prevent sticking.

  2. Step 2

Preheat the grill. Ensure that the propane tank or tube is connected firmly to the grilling unit. With all the knobs in the "off" position, turn on the propane. Once the propane is flowing, turn the grill on: you should smell the gas at this point. Press the ignition switch on your Weber grill several times to light the grill; it should light after three to five tries. If it does not, light with a match. Once the grill is lit, turn on all the desired burners and close the lid. Let the grill preheat for about 15 minutes.

  3. Step 3

Add the food. Place your food on the grill, laying foods that take less time to cook where there is less direct heat. Attend to the food for the entire grilling process, and do not leave the grill for more than a few minutes at a time. Check the food frequently, turning as necessary to ensure even grilling. Do not let the food burn; if the outside of the meat is browning or burning quicker than the inside is cooking, consider lowering the heat and closing the lid to allow the heat to build inside of the grill. Once the food is finished, remove it from the grill.

  4. Step 4

Turn the grill off. Immediately after removing the food, turn the knob of your Weber grill to "off." Let it cool for 30 to 60 minutes. Brush with a wire grill brush, close the grill and return it to its storage location.

Tips & Warnings
  • When you turn on the propane before turning on the grill, you should not smell any gas; if you do, double-check that the grill is off, turn off the propane and do not cook until you can remedy the leaky pipe or leaky connection.
