  • Gloves
  • Eye protection
  • Lye
  • Bleach
  • Water
  • 2 spray bottles
  • Cloth

Instructions

      Remove bamboo shades and lay flat on a towel.

      Mix half a quart of water with half a quart of bleach and 2 tablespoons of lye in a spray bottle. Fill another spray bottle with clear water.

      Wearing gloves and eye protection, spray the solution onto the bamboo shades. Allow to the cleaning fluid to sit for a few moments before rinsing off with the water.

      Wipe clean, using the brush to scrub, if necessary. Allow to dry.

      Wipe with mineral oil to prevent mildew growth.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also use grapefruit seed extract and tea tree oil to prevent mildew growth.
