How to Remove Lime Calcium Deposits

Calcium and magnesium in hard water can cause stains called lime deposits. Lime deposits, which can be white or brown in color, can occur anywhere you have a faucet, such as your bathroom and kitchen. Luckily, calcium and lime stains are easy to remove with the correct product and cleaning equipment. These stains will return, so you should clean your bathroom or kitchen weekly to prevent the stains from becoming permanent.

Things You'll Need

• Rubber gloves
• Cleaning brush
• Calcium and lime cleaner, such as CLR

Instructions

1. Make sure the room where you intend to clean is well ventilated. Open the door and/or window and turn on a fan if you have one. Put on rubber gloves to protect your hands from the cleaning chemicals.

2. Spray a lime and calcium cleaner, such as CLR, on the stain. Calcium and lime cleaner can be used on most surfaces, including tile and shower doors, but not on more fragile surfaces, such as marble, laminate, or colored grout.
   Let the product sit on the stain for about 2 minutes.

3. Use a regular cleaning brush to gently scrub the stain to help remove all lime and calcium deposits.

4. Rinse the area completely with cold water. If not all stains were removed, repeat steps 2 through 4.
