How to Make Satin Rosettes

Knowing how to make satin rosettes is very handy, because satin rosettes can adorn just about anything. Sew a few on to the collar of a cardigan sweater or glue onto a barrette for a pretty hair accessory. You don't have to be an expert sewer in order to make satin rosettes. In fact, you don't even need a needle and thread! The trick to making easy satin rosettes is to use wired satin ribbon, which is readily available at any fabric or craft store.

Things You'll Need

• Wide wired satin ribbon
• Scissors

Instructions

1. Cut a 22-inch length of wired satin ribbon to make a medium-sized rosette. Use more or less ribbon depending on the size you want your rosette to be.

2. Poke the wire out of one end of the ribbon and pull it so a couple of inches sticks out. On the opposite end, knot one end of the wired ribbon as close to the end of the ribbon as possible.

3. Gather the ribbon around the knot, rolling as you go along to form a rosette shape. Rolling tightly at first to make the bud, then more loosely as you go along. Make sure the part of the ribbon where the wire is sticking out is at the bottom of the rosette.

4. Fold the raw edge of the ribbon diagonally once you've finished gathering and rolling your rosette.

5. Gently pull the knot at the center of your rosette down so it hangs slightly below the rosette. Wrap the wire sticking out of the ribbon around the knot to secure the rosette shape.
