Instructions

  1. Making a Fitted Crib Sheet

    • 1

Purchase cotton, cotton-blend or flannel fabric. Cut a piece of fabric that measures 70 inches by 45 inches.

    • 2

Cut a square that measures 8 3/4 inches from each corner.

    • 3

Line up the cut edges of a square with the right sides of the fabric together and stitch. This forms a fitted corner. Repeat with the remaining three corners..

    • 4

Press under 1/4 inch on all sides of the sheet, then press under 1/4 inch again. Sew the hem.

    • 5

Cut four pieces of 3/8-inch wide elastic measuring 15 inches each. Fold a piece of elastic in half to find the middle, and tack the middle to a corner seam. Stretch the elastic to 12 inches in each direction and sew it down, using a zig-zag stitch.

Tips & Warnings

  • This crib sheet will accommodate mattresses up to eight inches deep. Use a queen-size flat sheet to make two crib sheets.
