Studies have shown that a child introduced to art generally will excel in many other aspects of like. Art helps to broaden an individual’s thinking process, and can be a fundamental step toward heightening your child’s education. School craft projects are fine, but if you really want to get creative, then it is up to you to take charge.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Take your child to an art museum. Encourage them to ask questions. Do not rush through the different works; you never know what will truly interest their mind. If an art museum is not available in your area, then head to the local library. There are many great books you can choose from.

  2. Step 2

Take notes on all the pieces your child is interested in. This way you can do further research while at home on the internet. Read up on the history of the artist, work, and methods used. This way you can answer some of those questions your child may have, and encourage him into creating his own projects.

  3. Step 3

Now it is time to let your child shine. Use one of the works your child enjoyed as an idea for their first project. If your child liked sculptures then invest in some clay. If artwork stood out, then try water colors, acrylics, or even crayons.

  4. Step 4

Unlike this article, do not stick to step by step instructions for this project. You want to introduce methods and examples, but ultimately you want your child to have full freedom to actually create anything their imagination will allow.

  5. Step 5

Frustration is bound to occur from time to time. New projects and mediums will help keep things interesting and fun. Just be sure to encourage and take interest in your child’s art.
