Here's a twist on the traditional baked pasta dish known as ziti. If you love white cream sauces, you'll love this rustic dish.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 8 ounces dry ziti pasta
  • large boiling pot
  • salt
  • olive oil
  • 1/2 white onion diced
  • jar of pre-made alfredo sauce
  • 1 small head of broccoli
  • chicken stock
  • 10 slices of havarti cheese (cut into 1/2" strips)
  • pepper
  1. Step 1

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add pasta to the pot and let cook for 10 minutes.

  2. Step 2

Saute diced onion in 1 teaspoon olive oil.

  3. Step 3

Brown turkey meat with 1 tablespoon of olive oil in pan.

  4. Step 4

Add about 8 ounces of pre-made Alfredo sauce. You can use plain Alredo or the kind with extras (like sundried tomato).

  5. Step 5

Add 1/2 cup of chicken stock to the sauce mixture.

  6. Step 6

Bring sauce mixture to a boil then turn down the heat to keep it at a simmer. Simmer for 10 minutes covered.

  7. Step 7

Meanwhile, the ziti should be done. Remove and strain.

  8. Step 8

Chop the broccoli in bite size pieces and place on top of your sauce mixture (do not mix it in your sauce). Re-cover and let steam for 3 minutes.

  9. Step 9

Remove the sauce from heat and stir the broccoli in to combine.

  10. Step 10

Take a glass baking dish and take just enough sauce to cover the bottom of the dish.

  11. Step 11

Layer 1/3 of cooked pasta over the sauce.

  12. Step 12

Then layer 1/3 of the sliced havarti cheese.

  13. Step 13

Repeat with sauce, the cooked pasta then cheese, ending with cheese as the final layer.

  14. Step 14

Bake in the 350 degree oven for half an hour.

  15. Step 15

Remove from oven, sprinkle with 1/2 cup of grated parmasen and bake for another 8 minutes.

  16. Step 16

    Serve!
