Step 1
After feeding your baby, wipe your baby's gums with a soft damp cloth to help prevent bacteria build-up.
-
Step 2
Start using a soft baby’s toothbrush twice a day when your baby starts to grow teeth. You can get this soft toothbrush from any supermarket.
-
Step 3
You can start using fluoride toothpaste once your child is at preschool-age. Choose toothpaste and toothbrush especially for toddlers as these are more appropriate to little children. Toddler’s toothbrushes have softer bristles than grown ups toothbrushes.
-
Step 4
Place only a pea-sized amount of toothpaste on your child’s toothbrush. Kids tend to swallow most of the toothpaste so see to it that you supervise your child while he is brushing his teeth.
-
Step 5
Avoid feeding your child sweets, as sugar turns into acid which can develop cavities on your child’s teeth.
-
Step 6
Make sure you and your child have regular check-ups with the dentist every six months to ensure your child won’t grow cavities. Doing so will help him be more comfortable with his dentist and develop good dental hygiene at a very young age until he matures.
