Chai tea lattes are a favorite drink at most modern coffee stands. That homey pumpkin pie taste, the sweet aroma and creamy aftertaste are the main appeals of this spicy treat. However, at nearly five dollars a pop the price tag leaves something to be desired. While a chai latte may be addicting it is not always practical in these times to feed your daily vice. However, it is surprisingly easy to recreate a cheap chai latte from items you likely already have in your home. The taste may vary slightly from what you're used to but playing around with the flavors a little bit should fix any differences.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Quality black tea
  • 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • Milk to taste
  • Sugar to taste
  1. Step 1

Make yourself a regular cup of black tea. Steep for several minutes to ensure that your brew is nice and dark. Leave an inch or two at the top of your cup to add the desired amount of milk.

  2. Step 2

Remove the teabag or steeper and add your pumpkin pie spice to the chai latte. Mix the spice very thoroughly to avoid a gritty first sip.

  3. Step 3

Add the desired amounts of sugar and milk to your chai to finish it off.

  4. Step 4

Taste the latte to determine if you need to add any extra seasoning, sugar or milk. Enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • Substitute the sugar for a little honey if you prefer that taste.
  • Add some whipped cream for a fancy touch at dinner parties.
