Weaving hair is the adding of extensions to make hair longer or fuller, or to change the color or texture. Hair weaving can be done in many different ways such as sewing, bonding and gluing. These options for weaving the hair may also be done in partial or full head weaving. It is more common to weave a full head of hair than applying a partial weave.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Weft of hair extensions
  • Weave bonding glue
  • Wide-tooth comb
  • Rat-tail comb

Weaving a Full Head with Glue

  1. Step 1

Part your hair starting in the back of the head, about 1 inch from the hairline, and pin up the remainder of the hair.

  2. Step 2

Measure the weft of hair against the part you have created, then cut the weft of hair to fit inside the part.

  3. Step 3

Apply weave bond glue in a straight line, to the top of the weft of hair where the strands are sewn together.

  4. Step 4

Place one side of the hair weft into the part, pressing firmly, and lay the remainder of the hair weft onto the part. Press firmly on the edges of the weft and hold for 15 seconds. Use your blow dryer on the cold setting and blow the weft at the scalp to set the bond glue.

  5. Step 5

Take down the hair on top and part another section about 2 inches from the weft that was just laid. Repeat Steps 2 to 4 for the remainder of the head, leaving a 2-inch mohawk of your hair out to cover the wefts on the top.

  6. Step 6

Cut and style the weave to your liking.

Tips & Warnings
  • Weaving a full head of hair can also be sewn in with a hook needle and hair thread.
  • Test the weave bond glue on a small portion of hair before applying it to the entire head to check for any allergic reactions.
