Clip-on hair extensions are an alternate for people desiring longer, fuller hair without the hassle of glue and sew-in hair weave extensions. Clip-on hair extensions are a type of hair weave, but the extensions greatly differ from glue and sew-in weave. Unlike glue and sew-in weave, clip-on hair extensions feature a clamp, which is sewn onto the edge of the extension. With clip-ons, you are able to snap the extension in and out of your hair as desired.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Comb
  • Brush
  • Hair clip
  • 4 side clip-on extensions
  • 3 medium clip-on extensions
  • 1 large extension
  1. Step 1

Comb all of your hair down, and make sure that is dry.

  2. Step 2

Part your hair from ear tip to ear tip. Pin the hair above the ear tips with a hair clip to keep it separated.

  3. Step 3

Open the clip located on the back, top of the clip-on hair extension.

  4. Step 4

Apply the large clip-on hair extension starting at the left ear tip at the part, pulling the clip through the hair like a comb and then snapping it in place. Then, go across to the right ear tip, pull the clip through the hair and snap the clip in place. You will know that the clip-on hair extension is secure when you hear a "snap" or "pop" noise.

  5. Step 5

Part your hair again above the large clip-on hair extension that you just snapped into place in step 4 to prepare to apply one medium extension. Brush the hair that you've parted down over the clip-on extension that you've just applied in step 4 so that it is covered.

  6. Step 6

Continue to part your hair above the previous clip-on extensions that are already in your hair, and apply the two medium clip-on hair extensions, and repeat the steps again with the third clip-on hair extension.

  7. Step 7

Part the hair on one side starting at a point level with the corner of one eyebrow. Continue the part across to the side of the head. Snap in one small, side clip-on hair extension and brush the hair to cover it. Repeat this for the other side. Part the hair again and comb it over the extensions. Apply the third and fourth small, side clip-on hair extensions a little farther back on either side of the head.

  8. Step 8

Comb or brush the hair down, and style as desired.

Tips & Warnings
  • Human clip-on hair extensions are recommended so that you can wash, curl and style the hair as if it were your own.
