How to Convert PPS to JPG

A .pps file is created with Microsoft PowerPoint presentation software. These files open directly into a PowerPoint slide show and do not allow you to edit the slide content or save the presentation in another format. Occasionally, you might need to convert presentation slides to .jpg images. No additional software is necessary to convert a .pps file to a .jpg, and you can complete these steps in just a few minutes using PowerPoint.

  • Save the .pps file to a location on your computer that is easy to access, such as your desktop.

  • Open Microsoft PowerPoint. Most people can find PowerPoint by clicking on the "Start" menu and then looking under the "Microsoft Office" folder.

  • Go to the "File" menu in PowerPoint and select "Open." Browse to find the location of your .pps file, and click the "Open."

  • Go to the "File" menu and select "Save As." In the "Save As Type" drop-down box, choose the "JPEG Format (*.jpg)" option. Enter your desired file name into the "File Name" box, and choose where you want to save the .jpg files. Click the "Save" button.

  • A prompt will appear, asking if you would like to save every slide in the presentation as a .jpg or the current slide only. Choose the option that suits your needs. This will save the slides from the PowerPoint presentation to your computer as .jpg images.

Tips & Warnings

  • The same method can be used to convert .pps files to .gif images. Instead of saving as the "JPEG Format (*.jpg)" file type, choose the "GIF (*.gif)" option.
