How to Make a Half Gallon Shelled Corn Squirrel Feeder
People that feed birds are often annoyed when the squirrels invade their bird feeders. To help combat these invasions, try making a feeder that is specifically for these playful little squirrels. Make sure that you position the squirrel feeder away from any bird feeders.
Things You'll Need

1
Use the tip of your utility knife in a spinning motion to puncture holes about an inch above the bottom of the half-gallon jug. The holes need to be large enough to feed your twine through on opposite sides. Thread the twine through the two holes and tie it into a knot that allows sufficient twine to hang over a branch.

2
Use your utility knife to cut openings at each corner of the top of the plastic half-gallon jug. Round the openings so that feed will not get stuck as easily. Size the holes to adequately release the type of feed you intend to use for the squirrels. Using nuts in the shell may be more appealing to the squirrels and would require a larger opening to allow the nuts to easily come out.

3
Cut the bottom off the gallon jug. Cut so that there is about an inch lip and it can be used as a saucer.
-
4
Hot glue the cap of the half gallon jug securely to the center of the saucer formed from the gallon jug.
-
5
Fill the half gallon jug with the feed of choice and screw the cap attached to the saucer onto the jug. The feeder is now ready to be hung from a tree or whatever hanger you have available.
