How to Kill Ants: Homemade

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp. borax
  • Saucepan
  • Spoon
  • Icepick
  • Several shallow, plastic containers with lids (about 1 cup capacity or less)

      Combine the sugar, water and borax in a saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil. Boil it for 3 minutes, stirring with a spoon the entire time to dissolve the sugar and borax.

      Use an icepick to make six holes, evenly spaced and 1 inch below the lid, in shallow, plastic containers.

      Fill each container with the borax mixture to 1/2 inch below the holes, and place the lids on the containers.

      Place the baited containers in rooms with ant problems but away from areas accessible to pets and children.

      Wait for the ants to enter the containers. They will eat the borax-impregnated syrup and carry more back to their nests. Over time, borax kills ants.

      Replace the bait when the borax solution disappears.
