How to Remove Stubborn Grease From a Griddle Pan
Cooking oils often build up on a griddle pan over time and may seem impossible to thoroughly clean off. This can leave a slippery, unappetizing glaze on the cooking surface that might have you thinking about just tossing the whole thing away. The good news is that with a little diligence the grease will come off and your griddle will be happily restored for future use. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Heat the griddle on the stove. Grease melts into a liquid when heated, so this takes most of the excess off. Pour the grease into an empty tin can. Never pour grease down the kitchen sink, because this can seriously clog your pipes. Once the grease has cooled inside the can, it hardens and can be thrown away.

2
Scrape the remaining grease off the griddle. If stubborn grease remains, take a plastic spatula and scrape the grease off. Throw the grease into the trash.

Soak the griddle in hot, soapy water for at least 20 minutes: Hot water is the key ingredient. Bring a pot of water to boiling on the stove and combine that with hot tap water for the soaking water. Use dish soap with a degreasing agent; regular dish soap doesn't cut through the grease as well. Adding a half cup of plain vinegar to the water also helps to cut the grease.

Wash the griddle with plenty of soap until the grease has been removed. Use gloves to prevent scalding your hands in the hot water. If the griddle has been really saturated you may have to wash it twice. Use a fresh solution of soap and hot water for the second application.
