How to Mount Old Storm Windows
Older homes that have double-pane, sliding windows also typically have a combination screen and storm window installed. A screen is used on the bottom during the spring and summer months and is replaced with a glass window during the winter. These storm windows generally come in two styles. Double-track windows have a glass pane on top, and either a screen or another glass pane slides into the bottom. With triple-track, the screen slides up for storage during cold months, and one of the glass panes slides down. You can easily mount a storm window in either type of combination window by first checking to see if the screen needs to be removed.
Instructions

Double-track windows

1
Pull the tabs on the bottom of the screen toward the center, pull the screen inward and then down away from the channel.

2
Tilt the screen so one side is lower than the other to easily slide it out of the window.

-
3
Place the glass storm window on an angle and set it into the channel. Make sure the guide pins are set so that the window will ride up the channel.
-
4
Set the lower part of the storm window into the channel, then lower it until the tabs lock into place.
Triple-track Windows
-

Tips & Warnings
Some combination windows cannot hold a screen and storm window at the same time. Spray the channel with lubricant if you are having difficulty removing the screen. Clean both sides of the glass on the storm window before you install it.
Pull tabs can stick and may not work correctly if they are not lubricated at least yearly.
