Interior bifold doors come in many types from various manufacturers, such as CraftMaster. A bifold door can be installed in various areas: closets, bathrooms, kitchens or laundry rooms. You can install a CraftMaster bi-fold door by first determining the size and type of bifold door that you need.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Measure the width of the door opening using a tape measure to determine the dimensions of the door you will need. You will need to get a measurement for the height and the width of the doorway.

  2. Step 2

Place the overhead track for the bifold door at the top of the door opening or header and drill small pilot holes for screws using a power drill.

  3. Step 3

Insert the screws into the pilot holes and secure them with the power drill.

  4. Step 4

Install the side jamb bracket on one side of the door opening. The center of the bracket needs to align with the center of the overhead track.

  5. Step 5

Attach the hinges to the doors, if they did not come already installed. The door should have two or three hinges that need to be attached. Place the hinges an equal distance apart on the door and secure them using the supplied screws and a power drill.

  6. Step 6

Screw a pivot guide into the top and bottom of the door. You will need to place a pivot guide on both sides of the door that butt up to the door jamb.

  7. Step 7

Fold the doors closed and inset the pivot guides into the top track. The bottom guide pivot then needs to be set in the jamb bracket.

  8. Step 8

Close the door to make sure it is aligned and working properly.

Tips & Warnings
  • Trim the bottom and sides of the bifold door with a circular saw if it is to big for the door opening.
  • If the jamb brackets are not aligned with the center of the overhead bracket the door will not close properly.
