How to Make Window Chalk

Window chalk is a non-permanent marking material you can use on windows that stays until you want it off. It is easily cleaned with mild detergent and towels. Using window chalk over the holidays adds fun and a festive feel to your windows. Making window chalk is as easy to make as it is to clean.

  • Clear dishwashing liquid
  • Tempura Paints
  • Paper cups
  • Popsicle sticks

Instructions

      Lay out the cups. Keep on cup available for each color you want to mix.

    • 2

      Pour dishwashing liquid into the cup.

    • 3

      Add paint to each container. The ratio of paint to dishwashing liquid should be 1:2.

    • 4

      Stir the mixture with a popsicle stick until it is creamy, very similar to the texture of house paint.

Tips & Warnings

  • When using the window chalk, use a different paint brush for each color to prevent contamination. To clean the paint off the window, use a damp paper towel or a cloth. Avoid getting the paint on wood areas such as the window sills.
