      Wash the cast iron pan in hot soapy dishwater. Only use a dish rag on the pan surface, not anything harsh or abrasive. Rinse the pan thoroughly. Dry with a paper towel.

      Turn on the stove burner to low. Place the pan on the burner, allow the pan to heat up and dry completely.

      Turn off the heat. Pour some vegetable oil on a piece of paper towel. Rub the paper towel over the inside of the pan, leaving a light coat of oil on the bottom and sides of the skillet.

      Store in a cupboard uncovered. Do not set other pans inside the cast iron pan unless you place a piece of paper towel between the two pans.
