How to Prevent Slippery Icy Walkways
Snow, ice and sleet can cause sidewalks to become slippery and dangerous. To prevent slick sidewalks, use salt to melt the snow. Snow salt, or rock salt, comes in much larger pieces than table salt. Buy the salt from grocery, department, gas and home improvement stores. Different types of salt exist. Read the packaging to decide which to use. Check the weather forecast before salting a walkway to find out how much snow may come. Check for ice anytime it snows or sleets. The ice may be hard to see. Does this Spark an idea?
