Instructions

  1. Elevate your Bed

    • 1

Purchase bed risers. You can get a set of four bed risers online for approximately $15, and they will raise your bed up to 5 inches off the ground for added storage. You can also find them at home decorating and supply stores in your local area.

    • 2

Install the bed risers. Simply take the wheels off of your bed frame and insert the legs of the bed into each riser. Now your bed frame has been lifted higher off the floor and you can use the space underneath for storage.

Add storage solutions. Purchase enough under-bed storage boxes to fill most of the area under your bed. You can find these boxes in mass retail stores, and you can purchase plastic ones or cardboard varieties. These boxes are usually large and shallow, ideal for storing folded sweaters or other clothing items. You can also use them to hold shoes or other flat items that you want to hide away, such as photo albums or books. Slide these boxes underneath your bed and pull down the bed skirt to hide the stored items.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can make your own under-bed storage containers by cutting the tops off of cardboard boxes you already own. Make them shallow to fit under your bed.

  • Check your bed to be sure that the legs of your bed frame will fit into the holes in the lifts. Some beds come with six legs instead of four, so you will need extra risers.
