How to Make a PSP Magic Memory Card
The Sony PSP is very popular among enthusiasts who like to modify game consoles. The use of a Magic Memory Card (or "Magic Memory Stick") allows a person to create an operating system on the PSP that allows for programs not sanctioned by Sony to be placed on it. The process of making a PSP Magic Memory Card can be done within an hour using a Windows-based computer running the widely used Windows XP or Vista operating systems.

Making a Magic Memory Card Using Windows Vista

Download TotalNewbi Easy Installer to your computer's desktop. Click on the icon of the program to decompress it to a folder on the desktop. Rename the folder NewbiiEasyInstaller. Restart the computer.

Put the Memory Stick Pro storage card into the slot on the PSP. Turn the PSP on and navigate through the Home menu to the USB mode. Select USB mode to activate it. Write down the device driver number that is written there.

Connect the PSP USB connector to the PSP and to the computer's USB port.
Open the NewbiEasyInstaller folder on the computer's desktop and right-click on the "start.exe" file inside of the folder. Select "Run as an Administrator."

Follow the menu commands to transfer the files from the NewbiEasyInstaller folder onto the Memory Stick Pro storage card in the PSP.
Go to the PSP and exit the USB mode to the Home menuy. Turn off the PSP and remove the Magic Memory Card that was once just a Memory Stick Pro storage card.
Disconnect the USB PSP cable from the PSP and from the computer's USB port.

Download the Pandora Universal Downgrader Easy Installer to the computer's desktop. Click on the icon of the Pandora Universal Downgrader program to decompress it to a folder on the desktop. Restart the computer.

Insert the Memory Stick Pro storage card into the memory slot of the PSP. Turn the PSP on. Navigate from the Home menu to the USB mode. Activate the USB mode.

Connect the PSP to the PSP USB connector. Connect the other end of the PSP USB connector to the computer's USB port.
Click on the Pandora Universal Downgrader folder on the computer's desktop to open it. Run the "autorun.exe" file by clicking on it.

Click on the first of four pop-up windows. Search in the window for the name of the PSP USB device driver that you wrote down from the PSP. Click on the name of the device driver that matches. Click "OK" to close the window and go on to the next step.
Press the Y key when prompted in the second window. Go to the third step and press the Y key when prompted to format the Memory Stick Pro storage card on the PSP.
Exit the USB mode on the PSP and go back to the Home screen. Turn the PSP off. Wait 2 or 3 minutes before turning the PSP back on again. Navigate to the USB mode from the Home menu and select the USB mode.

Select the final step in the Pandora Unversal Downgrader program. Click on the GO button and then wait as the program writes files to the Memory Stick Pro storage card that will turn it into a Magic Memory Card.
Click on the Exit button in the Pandora Easy Installer program when the transfer of files is done. Quit the program.
Exit USB mode on the PSP and go back to the Home menu. Turn the PSP off. Remove the PSP USB connector from the PSP and from the computer's USB port. Take the Magic Memory Card out of the PSP.

Tips & Warnings
Performing this process incorrectly might corrupt the PSP and cause it to be rendered unworkable. Modifying a PSP voids the warranty. Sony or any authorized dealer might refuse to do a repair on it, even if what needs to be fixed has nothing to do with what you did.
