How to Disinfect a Black Granite Sink

  1. Step 1

Wash the sink with hot soapy water. Run the tap until the the water is as hot as you can stand it. Pour liquid soap into the water, making suds. Using a clean sponge, wipe the bottom and sides of the sink until the whole surface is covered with soapy water. Rinse the soap away.

  2. Step 2

Clean with a vinegar-and-water solution. Bleach and other cleaners can damage and dull your black granite sink. Instead, combine 1 tbsp. of vinegar with one cup of water to make a disinfectant solution. Wipe your sink with this solution. Let it sit for a few minutes so that the solution will work and kill any germs or bacteria that may be on your sink.

  3. Step 3

Dry the sink with a clean rag. Make sure that you leave your sink dry. If not, leftover water can become home to new bacteria and germs.

  4. Step 4

Polish the sink. Find a polishing solution from a store that specializes in granite. There are many products available, but make sure to find one created for polishing granite. Follow the instructions on the packaging to finish off your sink. Polishing the sink will keep its shine and help fill in any small holes that occur in stone to keep bacteria and germs out of your sink.
