How to Create Shapes Out of Post in Notes
-
1
Decide on the size, shape, color and number of shapes you want to create using Post-it notes. This will help you determine the amount of materials that you need to complete your project. If you plan to cut individual notes into small shapes, you will simply need scissors and notes; however, if you plan to design large Post-it note shapes, you will need a good number of notes, scissors and construction paper or cardstock to support your design. Finally, decide on the color you want for your shapes, as you can use colored Post-it notes or color white notes with markers or crayons.

2
Purchase the necessary materials for your Post-it note shapes once you have decided on the amount you need. You can purchase Post-it notes at any office supply store.

3
Lay out all your supplies on a table. In addition to the notes, cardstock and scissors, you will need a marker. For small shapes, simply draw the shape onto the note and cut it out. To begin large shapes, use the marker to draw the shape of your choice onto the cardstock and cut it out with your scissors. Draw a circle, triangle, rectangle or any shape that you wish. Draw and cut out the shapes until you have the number of shapes you desire.

4
Fill in the shapes you cut out with Post-it notes by placing the notes side by side inside each shape. Start at the center of shape and work your way to the top, bottom and sides with the notes. Make sure not to leave any gaps between the notes. Feel free to overlap them if it helps you avoid gaps. Continue placing the notes inside the shape until the entire shape is covered. For a circle, triangle or any shape the does not have four corners, you will have to allow Post-it notes to hang over the edges of the shape in order to fully cover it.
-
5
Use your scissors to trim the Post-it notes hanging over the edges of your shape so that they conform to its pattern.
-
6
Use markers to color the notes if you chose white notes rather than colored ones.
