Step 1
If you have a tall Christmas tree make sure you do not put any breakable ornaments on it while your little one is young. Use plastic and plush ornaments if you can.
-
Step 2
Avoid small ornaments and things like tinsel or garland around your Christmas tree. A baby can swallow these and choke.
-
Step 3
Try having a smaller Christmas tree that you can set up on a higher table that the baby cannot reach. It will ease your mind to have a tree that they cannot climb or pull at.
-
Step 4
Keep baby gates up around the house to keep the baby away from the tree. Sometimes keeping it out of their reach is all you can do. Never leave the baby unattended around the tree.
-
Step 5
Put a play gate around the Christmas tree. This way you can separate the tree from the baby, but also separate the presents too. Babies can do a lot of damage to fragile presents if given the chance!
-
Step 6
If you're extremely worried about having a Christmas tree and can see no other method working, go without one. It won't hurt the baby to go a year without a Christmas tree. Chances are they won't even remember it!
