The name Dandelion translates to "the official remedy for disorders" and it really lives up to that name with the flower being used for everything from a diuretic to a liver tonic for treating the early stages of cirrhosis of the liver. Dandelions are known for cleansing the body and keeping fluid levels balanced which is beneficial to many organs and body functions. Some countries are even using Dandelions to treat forms of Cancer although the FDA has not given any approval for these claims to date.
Dandelions are known for the single bright yellow round tops and the straight stem. These lawn pests originated in Greece but were introduced by the early colonist to North America as an herbal remedy and a very important flower. They have roots that penetrate deep into the grown and a stem that breaks easily allowing them to thrive in most parts of the world. Dandelions typically bloom from early spring until late autumn and can grow up to eight inches tall.

Things You'll Need
- 250 Dandelion tops
- Pot
- Strainer
- Spoon
- 4 Cups Water
- 2 Cups sugar
- 1 Lemon

Once you have collected your Dandelions you will need to remove the Dandelion heads from the stems. Make sure all the leaves and stems are removed and you have the nice Dandelion heads left.

Add all your dandelion heads to a large pot. Add lemon juice from one lemon to the pot along with four cups of water.

Bring contents of pot to a boil reduce heat and allow to simmer with the pot covered for one full hour.

Remove the pot from the heat and allow the dandelion syrup mixture to sit overnight.

Drain the Dandelion syrup mixture to remove the dandelion heads making sure to save the liquid. Return the liquid portion of the mixture to the pot and disregard the dandelion heads.

Add two cups of sugar to the dandelion syrup liquid.

Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce heat and allow your dandelion syrup to simmer with the pot covered for an hour and a half or until desired consistence. Stirring occasionally.

Once done you can store the Dandelion Syrup in the refrigerator, make sure the container is tightly sealed.

Make sure you wipe up any spills immediately or they will stain!
