This is a fun Weather Forecast Costume for Halloween or a masquerade party. It's easy and inexpensive to make. When people try to guess what your costume is, you will mist them with a water spray bottle and tell them... "It's Partly Cloudy with a Chance of Showers!"

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fabric Glue or a Hot glue gun
  • One twin size pastel-blue colored bed sheet
  • One 8 ounce bag of Polyester fiberfill or several large pieces of cotton
  • One 12" x 18" piece of yellow Felt of Fun Foam
  • Dinner Plate (for tracing a Sun shape on the Felt)
  • Pair of scissors
  • Small Plastic Spray bottle filled with water
  1. Step 1
The Bed sheet will fit you like a cloak

Iron the blue bed sheet to remove wrinkles. Lay out the sheet onto the floor. Fold the bed sheet in half. Measure and cut a small hole in the center of the bed sheet. The hole must be big enough so that you can slip the sheet over your head and the sheet will rest upon your shoulders. Note: If making this costume for a child, a pastel-blue colored pillow case is the perfect fit.

  2. Step 2
Fluffy cotton or poyester fiberfill are your clouds

Lay sheet back down on the floor. Lay the yellow colored piece of Felt on a table. Put the dinner plate on top of the Felt. Trace a circle on the Felt. Cut the Felt circle shape out. This will be your Sun. Use the left over pieces of Felt to cut out Sun Rays. Set aside. Remove some Polyester fiberfill from bag and break into some large and small fluffy pieces, these will be your clouds.

  3. Step 3
Don't forget to hold the spray bottle underneath the sheet!

Don't forget to hold the spray bottle underneath the sheet!

With your sheet lying flat on the floor, place the sun cut-out and sun ray Felt pieces on the right side of the sheet. Place fluffy cotton or polyester fiberfill on the center of the sheet and some of the cotton should be overlapping the sun. After you have decided exact placement of sun, sun rays, and fluffy clouds, then lift each piece, one at a time, place glue on the sheet and on your pieces. Glue in place. Put something (like a plastic place mat) underneath the top of the sheet before gluing pieces on sheet so that the glue does not leak through to the other side of the sheet. Tips & Warnings
  • Be sure to use enough glue on your sheet to hold the clouds and sun in place.
  • After gluing the sun and clouds on the sheet, it helps if you place a heavy book on top of them until they dry to secure their placement.
  • I wear a blue high neck, long sleeve shirt underneath the sheet to match the color of the costume.
  • I wear blue eye shadow to match the color of the costume.
  • Fiberfill, Felt and Fun Foam can be purchased at any major craft store or Wal Mart
  • Small plastic spray bottle can be purchased at any Dollar Store.

  • When spraying your water bottle, be sure it is on the "mist" setting so that you do not soak anyone.
  • Do not spray anyone in the face or eyes.
