      Download the Paint.NET program using your preferred Web browser. Run the installation program and follow the prompts to finish the installation. Start the program from the "Start" menu or using the Desktop shortcut.

      Click and drag your photo to the white area of the open Paint.NET window. Click "Open." Click the "Lasso select" tool from the tools box. Outline the area you want to remain colored using your mouse.
