How to Get Rid of Puffy, Tender Eyes

1. The most common cause of puffy, itchy or irritated eyes is allergies. Take an allergy tablet at the first sign of eye irritation to reduce discomfort. A benadryl tablet will do the trick and provide some relief.

   Apply cold compresses to your eye to reduce any swelling that you may be experiencing. Warm tea bags also work wonders at reducing eye puffiness and discomfort.

   Vacuum your carpets daily to cut down on dust mite buildup and invest in hypoallergenic pillows, blankets and comforters if you are constantly experiencing puffy eyes. Wash all home fabrics often.

4. Make sure you are getting enough sleep each night. Insomnia can cause eye puffiness and the best cure for that in this case is getting a restful night's sleep.

5. Keep your hands clean and avoid touching your eyes. If you must rub your eye, always do so using clean hands that have been cleaned properly with soap and water. Always remove your contact lenses when eyes are stressed and in discomfort.
