Do you remember as a child reading the Beatrix Potter classics? I remember one story in particular where Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny go into Mr. McGregor's Garden to rescue a coat. This game is based on this classic. This is a terrific game for children to play at Easter time possibly while waiting for their age group to participate in the Easter Egg Hunt or to play after filling up with Easter candy to work off some of that candy high. This game could also be played in conjunction with reading the book. Put Mom or Dad in the act and you've got a terrific memory builder for the whole family.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • At least 3 children
  • A large area to play
  1. Step 1

The first step is to designate a fairly large rectangular area to be the garden. Be sure that all four corners are well marked so that each player knows the boundary lines of the garden.

  2. Step 2

Now designate a smaller area away from the garden to be the rabbit hole. The rabbit hole is the safe area. Be sure that the boundary lines of the rabbit hole are also well defined.

  3. Step 3

Now designate someone to be Mr. McGregor. He will stand outside the edge of the garden with his back to the garden.

  4. Step 4

Everyone else are bunnies. They all go into the garden and hop around, pretending to eat the vegetables in the garden.

  5. Step 5

At a random moment of 'Mr. McGregor's' Choosing he yells "Who is in my garden!" He then runs after the bunnies and the bunnies run (Not hop) to safety. If Mr. McGregor tags the child, the child tagged becomes Mr. McGregor and the original Mr. McGregor becomes one of the bunnies.

Tips & Warnings
  • The more fun you have with this game the better. Remember this is not just a game kids can play but their parents can play along too. It's a fun way to get exercise and build lasting memories at the same time.
