How to Create Baby Birth Announcements

The birth of a new baby is an exciting time. Announcing the birth to friends and family is important. Many times, pictures of babies are sent out through email before a formal birth announcement has been created. People still enjoy receiving a formal birth announcement, plus it can be put in the baby book.

Instructions

  1. Photo Birth Announcements

    • 1

Take a digital picture of the baby. Make sure that the background of the picture is not cluttered and you have good lighting.

    • 2

Purchase 4-inch by 6-inch blank folded greeting cards. The cards can be whatever color you desire.

    • 3

Using a word processing computer program, type the information you want into the program on a 4-inch by 6-inch page. Include the baby's name, birth date, birth time, and birth weight on the announcement. Center it on the page.

    • 4

Print the birth announcement information on the inside of each of the folded cards with an ink jet printer.

    • 5

Have the same number of 3-inch by 5-inch pictures of the baby printed as you have folded cards.

    • 6

Tape a picture to the front and center of each card using doubled-sided tape. You will have a border of the card around the picture.

    • 7

Put the cards in envelopes, label, and mail.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use a patterned card, and when the picture is taped onto the card it will create a patterned border. Make sure the inside of the card is blank. Have the picture taken professionally for better quality. Consider printing the picture black-and-white instead of color for a different look. Print the birth announcement on a piece of paper cut down to the same size as the card to make sure the orientation is correct before printing on the cards.
