Instructions

    • 1

Change your diet to prevent and soothe eczema. Eating foods like cake, shellfish, milk, corn and oranges can make your eczema start up and continue to get worse.

    • 2

Take supplements to calm down your eczema, including flaxseed, primrose oil capsules and zinc. All are effective at easing the symptoms of eczema. Burdock root, chamomile tea, and marigold are herbs that are also noted for helping with dermatitis symptoms.

    • 3

Use hydrocortisone cream to get rid of the eczema. This cream contains a mild steroid that helps suppress the inflammation. In persistent cases, ask your doctor about a prescription strength cream like betamethasone or oral steroids, like prednisolone.

    • 4

Use emollient oils and moisturizers on a daily basis, even when the flare-up has gone away. Use it in place of lotion. Emollients help to cure dry skin problems and calm down symptoms of eczema.

    • 5

Relax and avoid conflict in your life. Dermatitis tends to flare up when a person is angry, agitated, stressed or anxious. Remove the source of stress from your life, take a day off, walk in the park or let off nervous energy in your favorite way. Do something that makes you happy.

    • 6

Take a bath with an essential oil added to the water (like jojoba oil). A bath is good because it is relaxing to the mind and body, and because it can help improve the condition of the skin.
