How to Make Natural Mold Remediation Products

Mold can be both unsightly and, in some cases, a health hazard. Although there are many commercial mold removal products, making your own can be both cheaper and very effective for removing mold. Making your own mold remover is not difficult, however, you must be careful to follow the recipes closely and you must be careful not to mix any of the recipes together.

Things You'll Need

• Water
• Ammonia
• Bucket
• Spray bottle
• Hydrogen peroxide
• Vinegar
• Borax

Instructions

Ammonia Based Mold Remover

1. Put a gallon of water in a bucket.

2. Add a cup of ammonia to the water. Most household ammonia solutions are between 5 and 10 percent ammonia.

3. Spray or wipe the area with the cleaner.

Hydrogen Peroxide

1. Put a bottle of of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle.

2. Spray the hydrogen peroxide on the mold and let it sit for 15 minutes.

3. Scrub the affected area to remove the mold and stains.

4. Rinse the affected area thoroughly.

Borax and White Vinegar

1. Add a cup of white vinegar to a spray bottle.

2. Add two ounces of Borax to the white vinegar and shake thoroughly.

3. Spray the affected area thoroughly and let it sit for 30 to 60 minutes.

4. Wipe the area clean and rinse thoroughly.

Tips & Warnings

• Hydrogen peroxide can have a bleaching effect on many surfaces.
