SMART interactive whiteboard technology is a fantastic resource used by educators worldwide to enhance student learning and create an engaging, hands-on environment. SMART boards combine the simplicity of a whiteboard with computer technology to create an easy and fun tool that features Touch Recognition. This capability allows users to write on the board with the provided pens, their fingers, or other objects without ink. The accompanying SMART software converts contact with the whiteboard into digital ink or mouse clicks.

Things You'll Need

  • Soft cloth
  • High odor dry-erase markers
  • Sanford Expo whiteboard cleaner
  • Windex cleaner
  • 70 percent isopropyl alcohol
  • Use a damp soft cloth to wipe off any existing dry-erase ink that might be on the SMART board.

  • Use a high odor dry-erase marker to write over the permanent ink. Wipe the board with a soft cloth to remove the ink. Don't allow the dry-erase marker to dry before wiping it off.

  • Spray Sanford Expo whiteboard cleaner on the permanent ink that might remain. Wipe the surface clean with a soft cloth.

  • Spray Windex cleaner on any remaining permanent ink. Wipe the board with a soft cloth.

  • Spray 70 percent isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) on any remaining permanent ink. Wipe the board with a soft cloth.

Tips & Warnings

  • Before using any type of cleaner on a SMART board, remove excess dry-erase ink residue with a damp cloth.
