How to Roll Seams When Hanging Wallpaper
One of the biggest challenges in hanging wallpaper is the seams. Often too much glue will result in wallpaper seam curls. Other times, the adhesive made by the manufacturer isn't strong enough for seams. Learning how to roll seams when hanging wallpaper will ensure beautiful results and reduce these errors. Things You'll Need
- Wallpaper
- Clean sponge
- Warm water
- Small bucket
- Wallpaper seam roller
- Wallpaper adhesive

Leave 1/4 inch of wallpapering unattached at the seams for both sections. Do not adhere the seam area when hanging the wallpaper. This will give you a 1/2-inch seam allowance. Hang the rest of the wallpaper according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Fill a small bucket with warm water. Dip a sponge in the bucket and fill with water. Squeeze excess water out of sponge. Wipe the top half of the wallpaper seam backing with the sponge to dampen.

Apply a thin layer of wallpaper glue on the wall where the wallpaper seam will be. Press the wallpaper to the wall.

Wipe the top half of the adjacent wallpaper with the sponge to dampen. Repeat Step 3.

Allow the glue to rest or dry for approximately 15 minutes. Grasp the wallpaper seam roller by the handle. Hold at a 45-degree angle against the wallpaper seam. Roll in a back and forth motion several times across the wallpaper seam with even pressure.

Repeat Steps 3 through 5 down the wall to complete the wallpaper seam. Repeat with each wallpaper seam.

Tips & Warnings
Use the wallpaper glue sparingly. Use even pressure when rolling the wallpaper seam.
Avoid pressing too hard on the wallpaper seam with textured wallpaper designs.
