Files are often lost quite easily on computers, and the multimedia files located within iTunes are no exception. All it takes to lose years worth of accumulated music, videos, and photos is a hard disk failure or even simply the deletion of the folders that house these files. Fortunately, if you have these files on your iPod, you'll be able to recover them back to iTunes quite easily.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Double-click the "Computer" icon on your Desktop. Then double-click the drive labeled "iPod."

  5. Step 5

Navigate to your "C:" drive by going to "Computer" and double-clicking "C:." Go to "C:\Users\Administrator\". Right-click the "Music" folder and select "Paste." The iPod files will then be copied into this folder.

  6. Step 6

Click the "iTunes" icon on your taskbar and select "File > Add Folder to Library." Then navigate to "C:\Users\Administrator\" and click the "Music" folder. Click "OK." Repeat the process for the "Videos" folder.

  7. Step 7

Scroll through iTunes and your files will now show up. You've successfully transferred files from your iPod back into iTunes.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't edit any of the folders within the "iPod" drive. While copying files from the drive is safe, modifying them while on the drive is not and can corrupt the iPod. Take care not to modify the files in any way.
