How to Cook Vegetables in 5 Minutes

  • Stove
  • Counter top
  • Water
  • Kettle
  • Hard plastic container with lid
  • Microwave-safe plastic container with lid

Instructions

  1. Cook peas/corn using a kettle.

      Put a kettle of water on the stove and turn the stove on to bring the water to a rolling boil.

    • 2

      Put a can/bag of peas/corn into a hard plastic container.

    • 3

      Pour the boiling water into the plastic container, covering the peas/corn.

    • 4

      Put the lid on the container and let sit for five minutes.

    • 5

      Drain the water from the peas/corn, add two teaspoons of butter and a teaspoon of salt/pepper if you like, and serve!

    Cook peas/corn in a microwave.

      Put a can/bag of peas/corn into a microwave-safe plastic container.

      Pour water over the peas/corn, covering the vegetables up with water.

      Set the lid on the container, but do not seal it shut all the way.

      Turn the microwave on high for five minutes.

      When the microwave timer goes off, pull out the peas/corn, drain, add two teaspoons of butter and a teaspoon of salt/pepper if you like, and serve!

Tips & Warnings

  • Instead of salt/pepper, you could add your favorite vegetable spices.

  • These cooking methods will work for other vegetables but generally will take longer than five minutes.

  • You can mix together the corn and peas or do other vegetable mixes.

  • Be sure to use a potholder when handling the kettle and plastic containers so as to not burn your hand.

  • Make sure you sit the hard plastic container out of the reach of children.
