Organize a disco-themed party to let your friends and family members boogie, bond and celebrate the flamboyant 1970s. Get your guests excited with an attention-grabbing invitation that evokes the feel of a lively disco's glitzy dance floor, flashy lights and memorable music. Personalize the disco party invites with text tailored to the event to let guests know what to wear and bring to add to the night's festive atmosphere.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Blank, silver 5 x 7-inch single-fold cards
  • Matching silver envelopes
  • 8 1/2 x 11-inch black cardstock
  • 8 1/2 x 11-inch silver metallic cardstock
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Scissors or paper trimmer
  • Double-stick tape
  • Drinking glass or stencil
  • 1/2-inch square paper punch
  • White glue
  • Silver string
  • Metallic silver gel pen
  • 8 1/2 x 11-inch white cardstock
  • Computer and printer or black pen
  1. Step 1

For every 12 invitations you plan to send, buy 12 single-fold cards, 12 matching silver envelopes, 6 pieces of black cardstock, 2 pieces of silver cardstock, and 3 pieces of white cardstock. See Things You'll Need for the dimensions of the cards and cardstock.

  2. Step 2

Measure out a 4 x 6-inch piece of black cardstock with a ruler and pencil, and cut it out with scissors or a paper trimmer. Center the black cardstock on the front of a silver card and affix it with double-stick tape.

  3. Step 3

Use a drinking glass or stencil to trace a 3-inch circle on a piece of leftover black cardstock to become the base for a "disco ball." Cut the circle out with scissors.

  4. Step 4

Cut out 1/2-inch squares of silver metallic cardstock using scissors or a paper punch, sold at craft and scrapbooking stores. Glue rows of the squares to the black cardstock circle, leaving no gaps between the squares. When the entire surface of the circle is covered, trim the pieces hanging off the edges of the circle with scissors.

  5. Step 5

Affix the disco ball in the center of the card with double-stick tape. Glue a piece of silver string from the top of the disco ball to the top of the card, so the ball appears to be hanging on the card.

  6. Step 6

Write a line across the bottom of the invitation that suits the theme of the party: for example, "You're Invited to a Boogie Wonderland" or "Hustle Down to Our Disco Party." Use a metallic silver gel pen to add sparkle to the words.

  7. Step 7

Repeat Steps 2 to 6 to make your desired number of invitations.

  8. Step 8

Cut the sheets of white cardstock into fourths (each piece will be about 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches). Write or print the disco party details on each piece of white cardstock: include the party's date, time, location and RSVP details. Provide suggestions on what guests should wear and bring, such as mini dresses, bell bottom pants, glittering shirts, leisure suits, platform shoes and favorite disco compact discs. Attach these party details inside each silver card with double-stick tape.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have an extensive guest list and don't have time to create a paper-pieced disco ball for each invitation, embellish the front of the disco party cards with disco-related clip art images like a platform shoe, a cluster of loopy 1970s-inspired flowers or a couple dancing on a illuminated disco dance floor.
