How to Make Your Car Sound Louder

There are many ways to give your car a deeper, meaner sound, and most of those involve modifying the exhaust system. Generally, creating more airflow throughout the exhaust system will make the vehicle sound louder, but it will also increase performance. By installing any one aftermarket performance exhaust part, you'll notice an immediate increase in car engine noise. Any one of these steps will make your car louder, so you don't have to perform every step.

Instructions

1. Install a cold air intake. Colder air is denser, allowing your car to "inhale" more air. The intake systems are under the hood of the vehicle alongside the engine. Every vehicle and intake system is different, so consult your car manual.

2. Install performance headers. Replacing your vehicle's stock exhaust manifold with performance headers is another way to increase engine noise. The piping on performance headers are wider and designed for more airflow. The headers are usually positioned in the back of the engine, or toward the driver.

3. Install a performance cat-back exhaust system, which many consider to be the best way to make your car noisier. These systems have wider piping and often are made of metals that further increase airflow and create a deep, resonating sound when driving. The cat-back exhaust system extends under the car from the exhaust manifold to the muffler.
