How to Design a Free Kids Web Page
Just because your kid is small does not mean that she cannot enjoy some of the fun that the Internet has to offer. With the tools that are your disposal, you can create a web page for your child that is tailored just for him. The best part is that you can do it all for free. Just remember to resist the urge to place things you like on the site, since this site is all about the kid.

1
Visit a website, such as Angelfire, Tripod, Expage, or Geocities that will allow you to sign up for a free web hosting account. When signing up for the service you will be able to create a unique username, password, and sub-domain name for your kids web page.
Make the sub-domain name relevant to the information that is on the page if you want to get good search engine rankings. For example, www.website.com/annascoloringpage or www.website.com/joshsarcadegames.
-
2
Log into your account using the username and password that have been created.
-
-
3
Locate the "File Directory" that can be found inside your hosting "Control Panel." The exact location of this file directory will vary by web host.
-
4
Select the option to create a "New" page inside your directory. Begin by placing text and images on your child's web page. For safety reasons, avoid putting personal information about your child on the web page.
-
5
Customize the coloring for your web page. A lot of kids like bright colors, such as blues, yellows, and greens. So since this is a child's web page, stick with colors that appeal to children instead of colors preferred by an adult.
-
6
Place interactive games and activities onto the web page. This will encourage the child to play, learn, and have fun on the page. See the links in the "Resources" section of this article for an example of websites that provide games and activities that you can place on your page. Most of the sites will provide you with HTML code to place on your page to activate the games. Other sites may require you to download software or link to their site. The methods will vary by site.
-
7
Preview the web page after you have finished adding text, images, and interactive tools to ensure it looks good. Save the web page by clicking on the "Save" option if your are satisfied with the preview.
