One of the most important floral arrangements for a wedding day is the bridal bouquet. Using a simple technique, any bride and her bridal party can create a professional looking bouquet wrapped with ribbon at a fraction of the price that a florist would charge.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Flowers
  • Ribbon
  • Pear head pins
  1. Step 1

Select two sets of ribbon at a craft store. Each one should compliment the wedding colors. If the bouquet is for a bridesmaid, make sure the ribbon is either an exact match to the bridesmaid's dresses or a complimentary color. Also, use the colors in the flowers as a guide for the ribbon colors.

  2. Step 2

Hold your flower bouquet tightly in your hand. Secure one end of the widest ribbon to a single stem with a pear head pin. The wrap should begin about a 1/2 inch from the bottom of the lowest flower and end about 2 inches from the bottom of the evenly cut stems. You may or may not be wrapping the ribbon directly on top of itself. If it needs to be wider to cover more stem space, drop each loop down 1/2 inch to cover more stem area. Do not forget to hold on tightly with each loop.

  3. Step 3

Wrap the ribbon very tightly around the stems. Make sure to cut the ribbon long enough to wrap several times around the bunch of stems. At the end of the ribbon, fold the edge of the ribbon over, and use two pear head pins to secure the ribbon into place. Catch both the ribbon and a stem with the pin.

  4. Step 4

Use the second piece of ribbon, which should be slightly less thick in width and a complimentary color to the first ribbon, and wrap it in the same method as the first ribbon. Leave about 1/2 inch of color from the bottom ribbon on the top and bottom of the second ribbon wrapping.

Tips & Warnings
  • To give your bouquet a different look, wrap brick-a-brac or sequined ribbon around the middle for a third layer. You can also use wire to attach a monogrammed letter to the middle of the wrapping. Remember to make sure each ribbon layer shows.
  • Compare ribbon colors to your bridesmaid's dresses prior to the day before the wedding. You do not want to have to shop for ribbon the night before the wedding if you find out the colors clash.
