How to Download Music on a CD-R
Making a music CD out of your favorite downloaded songs is a much simpler task than you may think. You will need a computer with a CD-Rom capable of burning audio files to your CD-R. In addition, you'll need burn software.
Your newly created CD-R should have no problems playing in most modern CD players. Most manufacturers today make CD players capable of playing a CD-R. Unfortunately, most older CD players, and stereos aren't able to play CD-Rs.

Downloading Music on a CD-R
-
1
Choose the burn software you're most comfortable with. There are many different types of burn programs such as Roxio, Music Match and Windows Media Player. If you don't have a burn program on your computer, you can download a basic version of most of them. In some cases, like with Nero 6, you can purchase an upgraded version for an extra fee. This may allow you to rip MP3 files at a faster speed.
-
2
Purchase blank CD-Rs that are compatible with the speed of your CD-Rom. For example, if your CD Rom is capable of reaching speeds of up to 40 revolutions per second, you should purchase blank CD-Rs that boast a speed of 40x or higher.
The number of songs you'll be able to download per disc depends on the capacity of the CD-R, and the duration of the songs. It isn't uncommon to burn as many as 20 songs on a blank CD-R but on average 15 will fit.

3
Insert a blank CD-R into your computer's CD Rom drive. Make a playlist of songs in the order of preference you want them to appear on the disc. (Once you've created your CD, you won't be able to rearrange the order of songs.) Then, using Windows Media Player, click the "burn" tab.
-
4
Click the "start burn" button. You'll be able to see the progress as each downloaded song is written to your CD-R. In some cases, your CD Rom door may automatically eject, indicating your CD-R is finished.
-
5
Label your finished CD-R with a black Sharpie marker, or any other kind of permanent marker. Avoid using pen, pencil, and washable markers.
If you want to go the fancy route, use a label creator program to attach art to the disc. Most of those programs enable you to use graphics and a variety of fonts for this purpose.

Tips & Warnings
Most blank CD-Rs are relatively inexpensive with a time capacity of 71 or 80 minutes.
While some burners feature a CD drive capable of burning up to 40 rotations per second, some are limited to 12 rotations per second. Choose CD-R media that's compatible with your burner to maximize the speed at which you're able to create new discs.
