Instructions

    • 1

Vacuum the area that you plan to clean with your Bissell Proheat and remove as much furniture from the area as possible.

    • 2

Remove the SmartMix concentrate container from the Proheat base. Fill the container with your desired Bissell carpet cleaning solution until you reach the full mark. Tighten the valve cap and replace the SmartMix container in the Proheat base. Select the SmartMix setting for your carpet. Use "Water Rinse/Carpet Protector" for light cleaning or a rinse to remove residual cleaning solution, "Normal" for regular cleaning jobs or "High Traffic" for heavily soiled areas.

    • 3

Grasp the handle of the water tank on the front of the Proheat. The handle will lift off the water tank so that you can carry it to the sink. Set the tank in the sink and fill the plastic water bladder with hot tap water to the fill line. Carry the water tank back to the Proheat base and firmly set it back into position, pulling the handle forward and down to latch it onto the base.

    • 4

Plug the Proheat in and turn on the power switch and the SmartTemp switch. The SmartTemp switch heats the cleaning solution for more effective cleaning. Allow two minutes for the Proheat to heat up the cleaning solution before beginning your carpet cleaning. Holding down the trigger with your pointer and middle fingers of your right hand, push the Proheat forward and back over one long pass of carpet. Let go of the trigger and go back and forth over the same area until all of the water has been picked up. Then move on to the next pass of carpet and repeat the same procedure until your entire carpet has been cleaned.

If you are cleaning a large area, be sure to check your SmartMix container and water bladder during cleaning to see if they need to be refilled. You also may need to empty dirty water from the water tank during cleaning. To do this, carry the water tank to the sink just as if you were going to fill the water bladder. Pour the dirty water out of the tank and rinse the area between the tank and the water bladder with clean water. To keep your Proheat functioning properly, do this each time you empty the tank and when you store your Proheat between uses.

Tips & Warnings

  • The power switch must be on for the SmartTemp switch to work. If foam overflows from your Proheat tank during the cleaning process, you likely have old cleaning products left in your carpet. Select "Water Rinse/Carpet Protector" on the SmartMix dial until the foaming subsides.

  • Do not use the SmartTemp switch when cleaning delicate carpets such as oriental rugs, as the heat may damage the carpet fibers.
